Here we are... New Year Resolution Time!

Yes, this is that time of "The Resolutions"! The new year could actually be a good time to revamp and refocus our lives, and it can be just one small step towards a new attitude that can impact your life on the long term. From less sugar to buying local, here are some of our health resolutions for 2015.

  1. Incorporate more healing broths into our meals: Broths are an incredible source of nutrients that not only enhance the flavor of your food, but also contains essential amino-acids for our overall health. We drink them straight up, but you don't have to. You can use our soups to get the health benefits.

  2. Add good fats to our diets: At Duette we are fans of animal fats such as butter and lard, and feel quite proud that the data is finally showing us their benefits!

  3. Eat hand-made unprocessed foods: No matter the type of diet (Paleo, Gluten-free, vegetarian...), we know that processed foods is always the lesser choice.

  4. Consume less sugar: we understand that sugar wrecks havoc on the body, from heart disease and diabetes to certain cancers. It is also pervasive in our diet. One small step: eating more wholesome version of the sweet food, opt for natural foods and less refined ones. At Duette we tightly monitor our use of sweeteners and chose the better versions, honey or maple syrup.

  5. Buy local: We are huge advocates on eating local, which means checking out what is at your local green market - even though right now you won't find much! You will find more flavorful and nutritious food options and you will also get to know your food provider, which leads us to next our point...

  6. Understand your farmer and where your food comes from: information is power! Getting to know and understand your food will absolutely help you make healthier choices.
