It can be very confusing when you go to the store to purchase eggs. There are many claims on a carton of eggs that include labels like vegetarian, high Omega-3 to free-range- but what do these labels really mean? At Duette Foodshed, we have high ingredient standards and the eggs that we use are laid by free-range hens that have access to the outdoors for both movement and sunlight. In addition, the chickens are not fed antibiotics or GMO feed such as soy.
Soy-free is connected to chickens that are healthier. Chickens that have a soy-free diet have lower rates of illness and death. Soy is also a common food allergen and it is not natural for chickens to eat corn and/or soy.
Additional benefits of soy-free eggs include:
-Soy-free eggs have the highest Omega 3 fatty acids, Omega 6 fatty acids, and a higher quality protein.
- Soy-free eggs have 3-6 times higher count of Vitamin D, A and E.
-It produces a better tasting product.
At Duette Foodshed, you can rest assured that we cook free-range and organic chicken meat and that our eggs are soy-free!
